Ivan Kokeza was born in Split in 1992. He finished elementary school and „Marko Marulić“ high school in his home town. From 2011 until 2016 he studied Art History and History at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (University of Split). During the winter semester of the academic year 2015/2016 he attended the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań (Poland) within the Erasmus + student exchange program.

From 2016 to 2018 he participated as an external associate in conducting seminars and classes at the Department of Art History at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (University of Split).

From 2016 until 2022 he was enrolled in the Postgraduate Doctoral Program –  Art History, at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (University of Zagreb). There he earned a PhD degree after defending the thesis entitled History painting in Croatia from the Illyrian movement until the Second World War (under the mentorship of Associate Professor Dragan Damjanović).

Since 2020 he has been curating the Collection of Paintings, Prints and Sculptures at the Croatian History Museum in Zagreb.
