Lidija Butković Mićin (born 1982) graduated in Art history and Philosophy at The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb in 2007. She received her doctorate in 2023 at the University of Zadar, with the thesis entitled Tipologija stambenog tornja u kontekstu stambene izgradnje Rijeke u razdoblju socijalizma (Housing Tower Typology in Rijeka’s Architecture from the Socialist Period; supervisor: Full Prof. Julija Lozzi Barković, PhD, co-supervisor: Assoc. Prof. Antonija Mlikota, PhD).

Since 2017, she has been employed at the Department of Art History of the University of Zadar in the associate title of assistant, and since 2023 in the associate title of Postdoctoral researcher. From 2014 to 2018, she was a collaborator on the university project Architecture of Rijeka and the Rijeka region as a development resource – history, condition and revitalization possibilities of the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the University of Rijeka (leader: Full Prof. Nana Palinić, PhD).

She produced two conservation studies (Hotel Neboder in Rijeka, 2019, co-authored with Julija Lozzi Barković, PhD, and Plaža/Sabbia hospitality and tourism facility in Crikvenica, 2023) for the purpose of the evaluation of the reconstruction projects of the mentioned buildings and defining conservation conditions by the Conservation Department of the Ministry of Culture in Rijeka.

She is the author of the exhibition and accompanying monographs Ada Felice-Rošić and Nada Šilović – a woman’s touch in architectural history of Rijeka (Museum of the City of Rijeka, 2014) and Modern Architecture of Trogir (Slobodne veze/Društvo Radovan, Zagreb/Trogir, 2021), and co-editor of the scientific monograph Consumer Culture Landscapes in Socialist Yugoslavia (Slobodne veze/Onomatopee, Zagreb/Eidhoven, 2019).

She has organized a dozen exhibitions in the field of Croatian modern architecture, design, illustration, animation, and comics, publishes scientific and popular papers in the field of national modernist architecture and art in the public space, holds public lectures, and carries out numerous science popularization activities. She is active in the projects and initiatives of civil society associations and the independent cultural and artistic scene.

From 2011 to 2014, she was an expert associate of the Ars Publicae – 1postozaumjetnost project (under the auspices of the association UIII and Slobodne veze, Zagreb), which researched the history and contemporary perspectives of art in public space, and since 2013 she has been an expert associate of the Motel Trogir project (association Slobodne veze, Zagreb) focused on research, social valorization and formal legal protection of post-WW2 architecture in Croatia.

Since 2018, she has been a member of the Art Council of the Modulor Gallery of the Trešnjevka Cultural Center in Zagreb, specializing in exhibition and research projects in the field of Croatian architecture, photography and design. She is a member of the Society of Art Historians of Croatia and the Society of Art Historians of Rijeka.
